ITM opens Asia service centre

Worldwide supplier of tobacco machinery ITM has opened an Asia Service Centre in Malaysia. This will bring after-sales support to its customers in the region up to the quality level that is expected. This is a natural progression of ITM as a leading innovator with a passion to serve its customers. ITM will officially launch the Asia Service Centre on stand F20 at the World Tobacco Asia 2010 exhibition to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 27th – 29th of October 2010.

Following a global trend

While the market for cigarettes in Europe and North America is declining, the market in developing countries, especially in the Far East, is growing fast. With population growth and often spectacular increases in average income, the growth of the Asian tobacco markets is expected to continue into the future. This has caused a gradual move of the global tobacco business towards the region, and this is expressed in new or improved production facilities built in Asian countries by global market leaders. Local and national industries are also turning towards modernization and increased production to meet demands. ITM now follows this trend with an important milestone: by opening the new Asia service centre, fast-moving spares and after-sales services are brought to the doorstep of Asian customers. This removes the delays inevitable across time zones and provides customers with much faster support than was obtainable earlier.

Localized services

The new Asia Service Centre is located strategically centrally in the region with excellent international travel connections. More importantly, most employees at the Asia Service Centre are natives from the region. This minimizes cultural differences and bridges language gaps. In addition to English, employees speak a variety of Asian languages, including Malay, Indonesian, Hokien, Cantonese, Mandarin and others.

The Asia Service Centre is located close to Kuala Lumpur and offers the following services:

  • After sales support (commissioning, installation)
  • Maintenance (planned maintenance, troubleshooting)
  • Delivering spares (fast-moving spares in stock locally, intermediary for all other spares)
  • Engineering services (consulting, local project management, upgrading, enhancements)
  • Training services

Conclusion

With the opening of the Asia Service Centre, ITM firmly nests itself in the region and shows their commitment to be a reliable partner for their customers.
